Crawley MP Congratulates Town Hall on Top UK City Ranking

Over the last few years I have been really proud of what the Conservative administration of Crawley Borough has achieved for our town, with the recent Cities Outlook report ranking us amongst the top 10 cities in the country being testament to that.
Some of the policies that I am particularly pleased to have been delivered for the people of Crawley include:
- A four year Council Tax freeze;
- Over £7 million per year efficiency savings with a reduction in the number of Council departments from 15 to 10;
- Successful lottery bid to restore Worth Park Gardens and major investment in Tilgate Park facilities;
- Enabled the first phase of Town Centre North on the former Sussex House site to be completed with £3 million investment to improve Queen’s Square;
- Major reduction in traveller incursions;
- Introduction of CPE (Civil Parking Enforcement) and CPZs (Controlled Parking Zones);
- Hundreds of new Crawley homes being delivered at Kilnwood Vale and Forgewood and achieved planning consent for the North East Sector, delivering up to 760 affordable homes for Crawley people;
- Increased number of litter pickers, doubling the frequency of street cleansing and expanding the Community Wardens Service by one third;
- Accelerated neighbourhood centre improvement programme with delivery of the Bewbush and Langley Green neighbourhood centre regeneration projects together with improved jet washing of the town centre and neighbourhood parades;
- Programme to desilt and restore the important Ifield Millpond;
- Helping Crawley remain a consistent winner of South East in Bloom, Britain in Bloom and Champion of Champions;
- ‘Scores on the Doors’ for food retailers to provide local residents with guidance on health cleanliness and health standards;
- Completed the Decent Homes Programme for Crawley tenants with major improvements to housing responsive repairs;
- Introduction of a green waste collection service and glass recycling in red-top bins;
- Opening of the popular Crawley Skate Park and delivery of the BMX track in Langley Green;
- Delivery of the Maidenbower Pavilion project;
- Signing of the country’s “best” Military Covenant to support our local service personnel and their families; and
- Introduction of the Crawley Youth Mayor.
