About Us – In 1938 Crawley saw the original “Crawley and District Chamber of Trade” being established. The objectives at that time were very clearly stated as “an association of traders, merchants, manufacturers, professional men and others, to consider and promote all such lawful measures, plans and schemes as may be calculated to further improve and secure trading and commercial interests of the town of Crawley and its neighbourhood.”
Those aims, interestingly also encompassed the need to build and sustain community “to create and foster a spirit of goodwill, friendship and unity among traders of the town and to provide facilities for social intercourse on a friendly basis between members.”
We representing the Chamber at this time, are proud to be honouring the same objectives. A hugely different business community now exists but the Crawley and Gatwick Chamber of Commerce still upholds very many of the aims and objectives set out in the original “Rule Book”. Since 2004 the Chamber became a registered non profit making company trading under the title of “Crawley and Gatwick Chamber of Commerce Ltd” with a modern Memorandum and Articles of Association which so closely mirrors what was set out by it’s founding members.
Crawley continues to host traditional events like the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run on the first Sunday of November. This attracts national and international coverage as will the ultra modern development of K2 Sports and Leisure facility which is ready to help host the London Olympics 2012.
Crawley and Gatwick now lie in the centre of the Gatwick Diamond. The most exciting regional centre in SE England with enormous potential for growth. Crawley has access to an International airport, excellent road and rail systems to London and the south coast and a gateway to European Markets.
The modern Chamber today welcomes both “Professional Men and Women” from a hugely diverse mix of international companies, multi-nationals, independents and small businesses. Crawley is the home to many of the UK’s top companies in travel, manufacturing, leisure and retail. The Chamber invites it’s members to meet regularly and thrive in an atmosphere of goodwill. A place to learn, share, lobby and socialise
